On the New Year's Day 2019, a light show with the Yongning Gate as the background is brilliantly staged to welcome the New Year. Using modern high-tech means, the show leads the audience to travel through time and space to review the glorious history of the thousand-year old capital Chang'an City and trace the robust stance of the modern technological future city of Greater Xi'an. On the night of the New Year, the ancient city wall will attract all guests to enjoy the glory! Please enjoy the large-scale light show "Ode to Chang'an".

The "Ode to Chang'an" light show uses sound, light, electricity and water curtain as the medium to present the profound history and bright culture of ancient Chang'an and Greater Xi'an to the audience with a powerful visual impact, making the viewers spend an unforgettable New Year's Eve.

The scope of this project covers the entire ancient city wall, with five gates and four corners as nodes. The Yongning Gate is the core of the south side of the city gate and the corner tower as an important performance space. The overall planning and design of the Xi'an City Wall and Light Show was undertaken by THUPID and THDLI in the previous stage, with Li Li, the vice president, in charge.

The ancient city wall of Xi'an is an important vehicle for expressing the history of Xi'an, spreading Shaanxi culture and holding national rituals. The performance takes the South Gate Square as the main viewing area and the periphery of the city as the auxiliary viewing area.

Yongningmen adopted three major means of presentation, namely images, water curtain and interactive installation to support the stunning effect of "Ode to Chang'an".

Turning the gatehouse and arrow tower into a window of history has long been the practice. The scope of this project covers the entire ancient city wall, with five gates and four corners as nodes. Water curtain

Around the South Gate, benevolence and wisdom are condensed in it, telling the history. The water reflects the ancient city and the ancient and modern connections.

Interactive installations

The thirteen dynasties are transformed into the drums of Chang'an, a testament to history, reflecting the city walls and resounding through the clouds and sky. High-tech devices with interactive functions are hidden in the landscape environment during the day and make a surprising appearance at night.

The strong colors are given to the ancient city walls and Xi'an at night with different expressions by time of day and function.
On weekdays, gold, a symbol of grandeur and splendor, highlights the magnificence and dignity of the city gates, walls and corner towers.

On weekends and traditional festivals, Chinese red, which represents festivity and warmth, creates a festive atmosphere of happiness and well-being and cheerfulness in Xi'an.

Blue, symbolizing the future and fashion, will be lit up on May Day, November, New Year's Eve and other international festivals, and the ancient city walls will be in dialogue with the world, overflowing with fashion and modernity everywhere.

The ancient city walls, decorated with colors, will be transformed at each full hour after nightfall, forming the boundary of time with colors; the beam lights hit the sky, extending the splendor of the city.

The color is the tone of the wall, the light and shadow is the sublimation of history.

The night sky is dazzling, the drums are shaking the sky, and the ancient dragon veins are converging in Chang'an. The Yongning Palace of the Tang Dynasty stands majestic and magnificent, the ambassadors from all sides worship in front of the palace, the dancers are delicate and graceful, just like a fairyland. The mighty world sound, light and shadow dynasties change, Chang'an is coming to us from the distant past!
